Waxy O'Connor's.

Despite having been to both Brel and Vodka Wodka earlier in the evening, we decided one more stop was in order. Heading back into the city centre, we decided to go to Waxy O'Connor's, an Irish bar, and a place I'd walked by many times but had never been into.

From the outside, Waxy's is a fairly unsuspecting looking pub, and you could be forgiven for assuming it would be the same inside too, just as I had done for years. However, once inside you quickly realise that Waxy O'Connor's is anything but a normal looking pub, and you feel almost as if you've walked right into a pub out of Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter. From the floor you go in on, Waxy's descends several floors down, with loads of little hidden away sections leading off to other areas of the pub, making it the first bar I've been to that I genuinely think I could get lost inside of.

In terms of drinks, we had a pretty normal selection of pints. The selection of drinks on offer is similar to that which you could get at most pubs, in that it is generally just pints and mixed drinks, so Waxy O'Connor's has more of an appeal in its look and feel than it does in its drinks offerings. While this may be the case, the distinct, fantasy-like design of Waxy's is enough to make you not care too much about the limited choice of drinks.

Unfortunately, we had to rush to get the train home, which made our visit to Waxy's a disappointingly brief one. Since Waxy O'Connor's is probably the most unique looking and interesting bars I've been to, I'll definitely return in future, and would suggest to anyone that they do the same. As usual, have a look at the Instagram.
